The Electoral Commission of South Australia (ECSA) has updated the published figures from the March 2026 State Election following its post-election review.
As part of its quality-assurance process, ECSA reviews published results after every election.
The updates published today do not affect the definitive distribution of preferences, the election of any candidate, or any declared election outcome.
“Figures in ECSA’s results system were compared with manual count records completed by returning officers and while some discrepancies were identified, the declared election outcomes were unchanged” said Acting Electoral Commissioner Leah McLay.
“Where manual count forms confirmed the correct figure, ECSA has updated the relevant published record.”
A small number of minor differences remain where the available records did not allow full reconciliation. Larger residual discrepancies remain in three House of Assembly districts:
- Flinders, where the difference is 20 votes
- King, where the difference is 197 votes
- Ngadjuri, where the difference is 54 votes.
“These discrepancies relate to published records from particular stages of the count and do not affect the declared outcome in any district,” Ms McLay said.
“The differences are substantially smaller than the relevant winning margins.
“ECSA acknowledges that significant operational issues were evident during the 2026 State Election and the full extent of these issues is being investigated by the independent external review, which the Electoral Commission is supporting.
“We look forward to receiving any recommendations from the external review to make improvements for future elections.”
The updated results are now published and available on the ECSA results website (result.ecsa.sa.gov.au).
