District Council of Grant - Central Ward - 9 Dec 2019
I am a proud Moorak resident, where I live with my partner Melissa and our four children. I've had a wide variety of experience within the government and business sectors, operating my own large scale hospitality businesses for over 15 years. I was fortunate enough to be awarded a Telstra Small Business Award in 2012 and was an inaugural member of the NT Business Advisory Committee. I am currently the interim chairman of the NYE Festival Committee and a committee member on several other sporting and volunteer organisations in the region. If elected, I will bring a pragmatic and common sense approach to council. I will make evidence based decisions and engage with ratepayers to make sure council is operating in their best interest. For me Local Government operates best when it works within its core business of Economic Development, Roads, Rates and Rubbish. Contact details: 0421 339 925 |

The Yankalilla District is a great place to live. Julie and I have had a home in Carrickalinga since 1977. Our children and grandchildren have grown up here. I have always been passionate about environmentally sustainable business and employment growth. The most satisfying years of my career were helping to create sustainable employment opportunities in small and regional towns. Please vote for me and support my vision for families, nature and the future. As a successful candidate I will promote family friendly initiatives, encourage more nature enhancing town planning and consider the short and long consequences in decisions and actions. I will lobby hard on behalf of local families for better access to existing services and to increase services. I will also advocate for more accessible green spaces while considering their sustainability. The first item on my agenda will be to finalise a permanent location for the Community Library and return its current location to its original purpose as a community entertainment space. I will also push for a more extensive program of bushfire fuel reduction on the verges of both Council and State Roads throughout our District. I embrace the large variety of circumstances and situations throughout our area and will consult accordingly upon election. Contact Details: 0409 680 432 |

Growing up in a rural town in a large family I understand how important our 'village' is. My husband Pete and I love raising our two children Jack and Mexie here while enjoying every aspect of our beautiful surrounds and beaches. Our small business has enabled us to meet both residents and tourists alike, as well as bringing people together. We have been showered with support and I would love the opportunity to give back and serve this community as it is so close to my heart. I believe we have a strong, forward thinking council and it is a very exciting time to be on board! I have no personal agenda, except to support decisions which are beneficial to the community. Over the past 10 years I have served on various community groups including The NNYE Pageant, The Fleurieu Coast Business Association and The Yank Youth Advisory Committee. Contact Details: |

Enfield Ward has been my home since arriving in Australia as a child. I hold an Honours Degree in Commerce and Economics and Finance Degree, working as a Consultant on improving business processes. I will bring these skills to Council to listen to you, minimise waste and keep rates low. I have a proven track record of delivering community services, including as Treasurer of Kids Arthritis, helping to re-establish local Neighbourhood Watch, ensuring our rates are spent in our local community again, and keeping 'Enfield' in the Council name. Council must lessen issues caused by subdividing land, immediately commence Local Area Traffic Management programs where needed, and stop hoons. Seeing the growing issues in our community, such as irresponsible development, congestion and street parking, the growing burden of taxes, cost of living and housing unaffordability, rubbish dumping and recycling practices, maintenance and upkeep of our: roads, footpaths, verges and parks; made me think about what can I do to make a difference? Is it too much to ask for our community to be treated and serviced with the same priority as the Port and other areas? I am the candidate that recognises these problems and is willing to relentlessly fight to bring about a change. Let's say no to the status quo. I know why I am running, and I know what we can accomplish for our community. So here I am, asking for your support. Thank you for taking the time to vote. You can reach me day or night at 0490 659 468. Contact details: |

Dear Residents, Paul, for over 25 years in roles of a local Councillor and Disability Advocacy has enjoyed a close relationship with his community establishing confidence and trust by serving resident's interests. Paul has an appreciation on what our community expects and demands from councils essentially value for rates and charges being paid. We now have an opportunity to better place the interests of Enfield's residents back on council's agenda. Enfield needs an experienced and independent voice fighting for residents to ensure community amenities such as paths, roads, verges, recreation facilities are appropriately managed and improved whilst scrutinising council's budgets to allow for these challenges. Paul has a proven history of being accessible and reliable when called upon. Such values demonstrate a commitment to residents, local schools, recreational and community groups when needing representation to deal with their local council. Please, Vote 1 Paul Barbaro - Your Effective and Independent Voice. Contact details: 0410 517 295 |

If elected and being a resident in Enfield Ward my passion and focus would be to stand up for local people's much-needed services. I believe our rates should be spent on essential services like footpaths, roads, reserves, parks, improving safety in the neighbourhood and supporting local businesses to boost the economy. Through doorknocking I have become aware of what is important to local people: hoon driving and overcrowded street parking were some of the resident concerns. To help make our suburbs safer I will work with Council to introduce portable CCTV cameras in hoon driving and illegal dumping hotspots. I am active in several local communities. I believe that we need to grow and develop our community in a way that serves our community. Let's get the basics right before funding extravagance. I am available via 0484200111. I am running for council because I want to give something back to the community I call home. I am passionate about helping people live life to the fullest, and making our city beautiful and safe. As a renter and labourer, I will advocate for council initiatives that work towards creating a fairer, more equal and united community that benefits ordinary people rather than vested interests. Councils must prepare for the future, and so their elected members should include young, progressive voices. I am determined to promote a culture of consultation and transparency, and will engage meaningfully and openly with residents. Local government candidates aren't often upfront about their political affiliations, but I am a member of the Greens and have been endorsed by the party. I believe it is important you know this so you can make an informed decision when voting. Contact details: 0434 815 324 |

My priorities are improving our footpaths so they are safer for elderly and frail people and people in gophers or wheelchairs; traffic management plans to slow traffic and discourage rat-runners avoiding traffic lights by speeding through local streets; installing C.C.T.V. in crime hot spots so Council can take tough action against criminals and hoon drivers; improving safety with better street lighting; whole-of-street planting of shady trees to lower local temperature and encourage residents to play their part by planting their verges with flowers, herbs and vegetables; discouraging high rise apartments springing up on our main roads and streets; and keeping in touch with you regularly, not just at election time. I work as a Chartered Accountant and will bring those skills to Council's budget, with a view to keeping rate increases below inflation. I live in Broadview and am a member of the Australian Labor Party. Contact details: 0448 258 279 |
